Fall is here! Officially anyway. Unofficially, my hair is still in a bun in order to hide the frizz. Frizz or not, it’s time to start looking forward to breaking out the tights and boots, which means boot cuffs are in order.
These boot cuffs are made with bulky yarn, and are super cozy. I experimented with the herringbone half double crochet stitch, and I liked what I saw. These are very easy, and even easier to adjust the sizes. Simply add more stitches to the double crochet foundation row.
What you’ll need:
Bulky yarn- I used Loops & Threads Charisma, one pair in charcoal, and one in off white. One skein is all you need.
Foundation row double crochet- Here’s a video tutorial from moogly blog, if you’re not familiar with it
Herringbone half double crochet (HDC)= yo, insert hook into space, yo, pull through space and one loop (2 loops on hook), yo, pull through both loops
Front post double crochet (fpdc)
Back post double crochet (bpdc)
Time needed: Only 1 and (maybe) a half episodes of Broadchurch on Netflix
Row 1: Foundation row DC 25, join
Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as 1st HDC), Herringbone HDC in each st around (25), join
Row 3-8: Repeat row 2
Row 9: Ch 2, *fpdc in next st, bpdc in next 2 stitches, repeat from * around (8 fpdc, 16 bpdc)
Row 10-13: Repeat row 9. Fasten off, weave in ends.
That is literally it. Easy. Yet fashionable.
