Hello. We are two crafting sisters, Kelli and Holli, recording our successes and mishaps made while baking and cooking and sewing and crafting and gardening and drawing and crocheting and wedding planning and designing, as well as other topics that tickle our fancy. The Crafty Cats is intended to be a fun space to share tips and tricks on trendy, yet thrifty projects. Here’s to living all-around better, easier, tastier, craftier, prettier, cozier and more creative lives.
Kelli the Crocheter. Kelli may be artistically challenged, but crafty in the kitchen and with a crochet hook. She currently teaches English as a second language in Washington DC, where she is literally filling her small apartment with yarn. Kelli’s goal when starting this blog was to come up with one original crochet pattern. Instead, she came up with 17! Her favorite original design? The Phillie Phanatic. It may not be for everyone (she’s an Atlanta Braves fan, personally) but to design something so complicated in baby hat form makes her feel unstoppable! What is she doing when not crocheting? Kelli likes to bake (especially pies and whoopie pies), read, travel, and drink copious amounts of coffee.
Holli the crafter. Holli is a jack of all art and crafting trades, and master of none. She can do any DIY she puts her mind to, and sometimes she even finishes those DIYs. As a former Biology instructor and current stay at home mom in the Greater Boston area, Holli has a new muse for her craft projects: a baby boy named Rowan (and let’s not forget his much much older feline friend, Cayden, the original muse). Holli started this blog as a way to share her DIY wedding details but has since moved on to rather less elegant crafts, such as making animals out of felt. When she’s not crafting, Holli likes to travel, watch HGTV, go thrifting, and eat copious amounts of ice cream.
